Job Description

As a member of the Engineering team, you will be responsible for developing and refining tools that enable BySide to efficiently leverage data for both internal and external reporting, advanced analysis and applications. By working with a small team, you will have great visibility, responsibility and high impact.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement BySide's customer data management platform including its big data infrastructure, data processing pipelines and system integrations Work on data modelling and metadata management
• Streamline data processing and analysis
• Pay meticulous attention to end-to-end data quality, validation and consistency
• Play a proactive part in owning the technical systems your team works with; taking responsibility for monitoring, measuring performance and addressing technical issues when required
• Work with operations to build and configure scalable, highly available and resource-efficient systems
• Gather cross-functional requirements and translate them into practical engineering tasks

Profile

• Experience developing large-scale web-based systems
• Excellent debugging, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Passion for beautiful, test-driven code and an eye for simplicity and pragmatism
• Strong estimating and planning skills
• Deep understanding of data structures and algorithms
• Expertise in MySQL
• Knowledge in NoSQL technologies like Riak, Redis, Solr
• Expertise in PHP. Experience with node.js and shell scripting is a plus
• Ability to work within UNIX/Linux operating systems
• BSc/BEng or masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other field with strong software programming curriculum
