Position
Aero, Acoustics & Options - LPS Electrical Engineer

Description of EVP area/Sub area and Department 
The Aero, Acoustic and Options Engineering team within the Wind Capture department of Vestas VPS business unit is responsible for the delivery of new and innovative products and technologies that supports and increases the performance of new wind turbines and options for our service portfolio. 
Responsibilities
The role will support the LPS Design Engineer by providing electrical engineering input towards verified technology for integration into WIC Components. This will include electrical 2D review to ensure the compatibility of the electrical components (part off or not part of the LPS design (3D at a later stage)) against standards to prevent damage to the structure. Input to WIC component DFMEA and the DVPR/ DVRE of the LPS verification of components stemming from the DVPL. 
Generate the design description for verified Technology integration into new products.
Maintenance of the Test and component overview configurator for verified Technologies transfers). 
Qualifications
B.Sc/ B.Eng Mechanical Engineering or comparable education with noise & vibration 
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience

Additional information
Work location is Porto, Portugal. Up to 30 days travel per year can be expected.

The Rotor Engineering Department within Vestas Power Solutions develops wind turbine blades and technologies with the mindset: Accountability from cradle to grave. The department seeks a highly qualified engineer in Porto, Portugal with composite structural engineering and analysis expertise, but also with deep knowledge of composite materials and their application and processing to drive technological developments within these areas to deliver the most competitive blade products in the market.

Responsibilities
The Structural Engineer’s role covers designing of load carrying components as well as bolted or welded connections.
Work in close co-operation with other structural engineers of the department in order to find the correct solutions and meet the deliverables,
Deliverables are optimized structures, including documentation according to the Vestas Way to Market process and certification;
Defining and participating in test and validation of systems.

Qualifications
Need to have:
M. Sc. degree
Minimum 5+ years of experience with mechanical design (including FEA);
Good technical understanding;
Experience with simulation and calculation of mechanical systems including: 
• Load analysis and application
• Extreme and fatigue analysis
• Design for manufacturing
• Bolted and welded joints
• Contact settings;
Data evaluation expertise;
Enthusiastic about practical work on tests and verification as well as theoretical knowledge;
Fluency in English; 
Good communication skills.



Nice to have:
Experience within the following mechanical areas:
• Fracture mechanics
• Casting design
• Casting simulations 
• Bearing analysis
• Topology/shape optimization

Six Sigma–DMAIC/DfSS;
Basic functional GPS; 
Experience in ERP System (examples: Mapics, ECM, SAP)
Project management experience

Competencies
Comfortable with change - unafraid to step out of comfort zone
Pro-active in communicating across functions and cultures
Thirst for knowledge
