All Portuguese banks are part of the fully integrated interbank network called Multibanco (or MB), offering a wide range of services. This makes accounts easily accessible and account holders may use their Multibanco debit card in ATMs across the country for a number of services and transactions, from normal cash withdrawal, to services payments and payments to State entities, bank transfers, purchasing tickets, as well as buying goods in most stores.
A white, black & blue MB sign or sticker will indicate an ATM machine or that a specific shop/business accepts this payment method.
To pay through Multibanco, fill in the required fields with the information shown at the bottom of your bill:
- Entity (Entidade): 5-digit number
- Reference (Referência): three 3-digit numbers
- Amount (Montante): the amount of your bill including decimal places
